WOULD YOU LIKE TO MAKE A SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCE IN SOMEONE'S LIFE FOR LIFE?
We invite you to participate in the County s first Code Blue Shelter created to save lives of the area's homeless.
Code Blue is called by the Burlington County Board of Health Dept. when the weather becomes 25 degrees or colder. The Christian Caring Center, Tabernacle of Praise Church and the Pemberton Township & Vicinity Ministerium along with the Burlington County Code Blue Committee will run a Shelter for area single men & women during December through March at the Tabernacle of Praise Church located at 271 Ridge Rd. Browns Mills, NJ 08015. There are many ways you can participate, such as:
- VOLUNTEER TO STAY TO HELP AT THE SHELTER
- MAKE A CASSEROLE (BREAKFAST & DINNER) & BAGGED LUNCHES
- COLLECT AND MAKE INDIVIDUAL HYGIENE KITS (including feminine products)
- COLLECT AND DONATE BLANKETS, PILLOWS,SLEEPING BAGS, TOWELS
- COLLECT AND DONATE SOCKS & UNDERWEAR
- COLLECT AND DONATE NON PERISHABLE POP-TOP CAN GOODS, GRANOLA
BARS, ENSURE, ETC. ITEMS THAT DON'T HAVE TO BE COOKED
- COLLECT AND DONATE HATS, GLOVES, WARM COATS
- COLLECT AND DONATE PAPER PLATES, CUPS, UTENSILS, CAN OPENERS
- DONATE FUNDS TO HELP OPERATE
- VOLUNTEER TO HELP FIX UP, PAINT, ETC. AT THE SHELTER DURING THE CODE BLUE MONTHS
We will be seeking volunteers in all aspects in running the shelter. Volunteers that will be staying at the shelter to assist are asked to be on call one week a month during Dec.-Mar. and to pick a shift of 5pm to 10pm or 10pm to 8am., etc. When Code Blue is called you will be called. If you are unable to commit to a schedule like that, don't be discouraged from helping--we have a call list on which you can be placed. We will then call you when needed and if you can volunteer then, fine--if not we will call you for the next Code Blue occurrence.
